Event Library

In KISSmetrics, there are two types of events. Those that can easily be set up from within KISSmetrics and those that need help from a developer or engineer. The Event Library is perfect for the easy ones that you can set up right now without constantly adding code to your site.

The Event Library allows you to create, edit and delete events without involving your developer to make code changes. It makes use of your site’s JavaScript code, which can be found in your site settings. So once this initial KISSmetrics code is on each page of your site, the events in your Event Library will start recording data.

Event List

Go to the page https://www.kissmetrics.com/wizard to see a list all of your events. They are grouped into two categories: Events Created By You and Events Tracked Via API.

Event Categories

Events Created By You

These are your events being actively tracked in the Event Library.

Events Tracked Via API

There are three types of events listed here:

  1. Events that our automatically tracked from having our initial KISSmetrics JavaScript code on your site.
  2. Old Event Library entries that have historic data, but are not actively tracking current user behavior.
  3. Events you pass in from another data source: a server-side API, our Database Sync tool, CSV import, or one from of our other integrations.

Creating a New Event

You can create events in the Event Library based on three user actions:

How often does the Event Library update my JavaScript file?

Creating new events in the Event Library means you’ll be able to start tracking live data within the next minute.
