What people who visit my site are converting to customers? Where are people most likely to drop off my site? What do people who convert to customers have in common? These are just a few of the questions that KISSmetrics can help you answer. Please see KISSmetrics is Different for a broad overview of KISSmetrics and our Getting Started guide for more details.
The KISSmetrics API is very flexible and can accommodate most situations. Please see KISSmetrics is Different for a broad overview of KISSmetrics and our Getting Started guide for more details.
Yes. The KISSmetrics Javascript API should not conflict with any other metrics you are running on your site. In fact, KISSmetrics even integrates with Google Analytics to pull in some of the data you are already tracking with Google Analytics into your KISSmetrics reports.
Please see our APIs section.
Yes - please see our APIs section for options.
KISSmetrics does not have an iPhone or Android app at this time, but you can use the KISSmetrics website on a mobile browser.
Our entire data collection is decentralized, low impact, and highly scalable - so the chance of us going down is small. In addition with all of our APIs even if our data collection service is unavailable your users won’t experience any errors.
Yes. KISSmetrics is committed to protecting the privacy of our clients and visitors to your website. The KISSmetrics API allows you to pass in properties on your users so that we can collect personally-identifiable data about your users on your behalf. This data is only accessible to you.
KISSmetrics employees will not access your users’ data directly unless needed in connection with a support request from you. KISSmetrics will not share your data with anyone other than you unless we have received explicit consent to do so or if required by law.
Anywhere from 2-5 hours depending on the amount and frequency of data you send us. We may make changes to this as we determine the needs of our customers.
Though events may not show up on the Event list for up to 3 hours (at most), they will begin tracking immediately after successful creation. You should be able to verify this via the Live view where tracked data should be visible as events are triggered in nearly real-time.
Funnel Reports, Cohort Reports, and People Reports: Initial data should be seen within 2-6 hours after initial event creation. When viewed, each of these reports should be updated with data current to within 2-6 hours on account of a small lag due to necessary processing time (see note below for more details).
Metrics: Initial data should populate in 24 hours or less, and data is currently updated every 24 hours.
Note that the reason for the delay is that we are actually creating user/customer records for you, and tying all of the “new” and “old” data on people together on the backend, which requires processing time. Note also that these are estimates, and the precise time can vary depending on the amount and frequency of data you send us. Furthermore, we may make changes to this as we continue to determine the priorities and needs of our customers. If you don’t see any data beyond the time periods listed above, contact support so we can verify all is working properly.

An event is when a person does one of your defined actions. For example, you may have defined actions such as Viewed Homepage, Viewed Signup Page, Submitted Signup Form. When a person has completed these actions, KISSmetrics has measured 3 events. Please see our section on People, Events and Properties for more information.
KISSmetrics has been engineered to handle large volumes of data and during our beta period we successfully handled data from some of the largest Facebook applications. So more than likely the answer is yes. If you don’t think one of our payment plans will work for your needs contact us. We will work with you to increase the efficiency of what you’re measuring and/or devising an appropriate subscription plan. One thing we won’t do is charge overage fees - we think it’s uncool to spring unexpected charges on our customers.
KISSmetrics will save all data while an account is in good standing. Please see our payment terms for more details.
Please see our pricing page page for account limitations.
Please see our pricing page page for account limitations.
There is a limit on all accounts of 65,535 event names and 65,535 property names (each of these events or properties can be set an unlimited number of times). For any single event for a person, we can keep track of the 1,000 most recent occurrences of that event. Similarly, for any single property for a person, we can keep track of the 1,000 most recent values set for that property. If you think your product will exceed these limits there is likely a better way to track the data you want to track and we recommend you contact us.
